HPI offers a full featured calibration and repair laboratory and will calibrate almost all radiation measuring instruments from any manufacturer. We maintain a diverse inventory of sources to meet the needs of most instruments. This includes neutron, beta, and gamma sources. All calibrations are traceable to NIST.

HPI will repair most instruments. We have a very knowledgeable staff of trained technicians who know the ins and outs of radiation protection instruments. They are able to diagnose and repair just about any instrument, new or old. This includes survey meters, counters, area monitors and dosimeters. We maintain a large library of manuals for older instruments. Since we are also a manufacturer, we have a stock of standard parts used in radiation protection instruments. We are able to fabricate parts that may be obsolete.

When we receive an instrument for calibration or repair, it is logged into our system, tested and if a repair is needed we notify the customer of the cost of the repair. We will not continue until we receive an approval for the repairs.

Our calibration sheets contain all of the data needed to calibrate the instrument, including the source strengths, the distances used for each data point, and the instrument readings. We also include the environmental conditions during the calibration. The calibration sheets are filed in long term storage. We can produce calibrations that we performed 25 years ago.

We also perform modifications on any instrument by any manufacturer. This can include changes to the original design that will not allow it to be calibrated, or a circuit modification/addition that a customer needs to make the instrument more useful.

Our turn around time is fast, usually 2 to 3 working days. If you need a quicker turn around time we are often able to calibrate an instrument and have it back to you the next day,

Specifications and Notes
All calibrations are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

No charge for battery replacements on all instruments with up to 6 ea. D, 6 ea. C, 6 ea. AA or 2 ea. 9 volt batteries. Other batteries replaced if necessary at list price + 20%.

Calibration stickers with a 1 year due date are supplied with each instrument.

Turnaround time is generally 2 to 3 working days not including shipping. If you need a fast turnaround time please let us know ahead of time. Extra extra fast turn arounds will be billed at a 20% premium. Weekend rates are billed at a 50% premium.
